St George Illawarra have lost Reece Robson, with North Queensland announcing the capture of the talented youngster on Monday afternoon.
The 21-year-old hooker will join the Cowboys from next season on a four-year contract.
Robson has made eight NRL appearances for the Dragons.
The former junior Kangaroos representative is a product of Endeavour Sports High School and played his junior league with De La Salle, Caringbah.
Cowboys director of football Peter Parr said the club were delighted to have secured Robson.
"We believe Reece Robson is one of the best young hookers in the competition," Parr said.
"Strong dummy half play is crucial to any side and Reece's signing gives us significant depth in an extremely important position."
Robson is a graduate of the Dragons' junior pathway system having played in St George's SG Ball team before being named in the Australia Schoolboys and NSW under-18s teams in 2016.
Robson was again chosen for Australia Schoolboys and NSW under-20s a year later before making his first grade debut against Melbourne last season.
He was also named the Intrust Super Premiership NSW hooker of the year in 2018 and was chosen for NSW coach Brad Fittler's Emerging Blues squad.
Meanwhile, Tariq Sims has played his final game of the season.
Sims underwent groin surgery in Sydney on Monday and will miss the rest of St George Illawarra's season including the Dragons' trip to the shire for their derby against Cronulla on Sunday.
"Tariq underwent successful groin surgery in Sydney on Monday," Dragons head of athletic performance Nathan Pickworth said.
"The time frame for recovery unfortunately means he will not play again in season 2019.
"Tariq will rehabilitate over the off-season and be ready to play come the commencement of the 2020 NRL premiership."
