Statistics suggest one in three marriages end in divorce so chances are we all know someone who has been through it.
My Brilliant Divorce, a hit on London's West End when it starred Dawn French, is a cathartic look at one of the most emotional things a person can go through.
A new Australian stage production is touring the nation starring Mandi Lodge.
"Our show comes at a time when in Australia 132 divorces are happening every day," Lodge says.
"In other words, one in three marriages end in divorce, so most people in our audience will either have been or know someone who's been through it.
"As with any upheaval, people can find funny things happen amongst the drama and it is those lighter moments that help us get through and find perspective."
"Our show works as either a funny, heartful time in the theatre or it can give people a chance to recognise the ups and downs of divorce and hopefully feel a bit better about those moments and laugh at some of the sillier stuff that goes on."
My Brilliant Divorce was written by Geraldine Aron and has been produced in 28 countries around the world.
"We are finding people across Australia are loving seeing stories like My Brilliant Divorce because they talk about real emotions encased in a light hearted, relatable story," said show producer Christine Harris.
