While I applaud this how the hell does it cost $6 million to upgrade a park?
Building a big house costs about $500,000 so how do you spend $6m planting trees and putting in some play equipment? Sounds like someone is raking money off the top.
I'd live to see the costings and the profit margin for the contractor.

Nearly $2 million of the Kempt Field upgrade is coming from the East Quarter Development next door. They got an increase in height level ( 2 to 3 extra storeys of apartments. Council had to take them to court to get them to cough up and pay.
Hurstville eastern CBD does need a playground as Woodville is overcrowded. Western Hurstville CBD is lacking in open space as identified by Greater Sydney Commission and Council. Fingers crossed there is some more money to provide the high density western Hurstville residents with a place to play.

We'll wait to see what happens. This kind of stuff has been said twice before and NOTHING ever happened.

I want water features in the park like Darling Harbour would be great but have to consider traffic parking etc.

$6 million for some grass and trees. Try spending money on Moore Reserve. The plans were drawn up years ago and about 5 per cent was acted on then the playground was removed due to methane levels. But the park was never closed .... just ignored.

A proper soccer field and more basketball courts are needed in the park.
