St George-Sutherland Slayers product Nicola Carey has been named in Australia's squad for their tour of the West Indies.
Australia and the West Indies will contest three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals next month, with ICC Women's Championship points up for grabs in the three 50-over fixtures.
Australia is in second place on the table, one win behind England having played six less matches than the World Cup champions. The top four teams at the end of the championship gain direct qualification to the ICC Women's World Cup in New Zealand in 2021.
Carey announced in May she would leave the NSW Breakers and Sydney Thunder to head south for the domestic summer.
The 25-year-old all-rounder has signed for Tasmania and the Hobart Hurricanes. Carey was one of Tasmania coach Salliann Briggs' key signings for the Women's National Cricket League season. She will also bolster a Hurricanes side coming off a disappointing season in the new WBBL05.
Tasmania finished third on the WNCL table last season, a drastic improvement on the previous year where they failed to win a game. The Hurricanes finished WBBL04 with a 2-12 win-loss record, with Carey to offer Tasmania and Hobart some much needed international class.
Carey has played 59 WBBL matches with the Thunder, scoring 482 runs and taking 62 wickets across her four WBBL seasons.
She has also played in six ODIs and one T20 for Australia.
Carey was named player of the match during last season's WNCL final in February after she took three wickets and scored a half-century for NSW in their 31-run win over Queensland.
