Woronora Rural Fire Service has a new fire-fighting boat, which residents will have a chance to inspect on Sunday.,
The state-of-the-art vessel, named Bravo, was officially handed over on Tuesday by Emergency Services Minister David Elliott.
Also present were Heathcote MP Lee Evans, Sutherland Shire mayor Carmelo Pesce, RFS superintendent Andrew Pinfold, RFS group captain (retired) Len Carter Woronora Bush Fire Brigade captain Mitchell Giles and senior deputy captain Jamie Gavan .
The 8.5 metre long boat is powered by twin engines and carries eight firefighters.
"It is important our dedicated volunteers are supported by the best possible technology," Mr Elliott said.
Members of Woronora Bush Fire Brigade - their Facebook page name - have invited the community to their open day on Sunday, September 15 from 9am to midday.
"There will be activities for the kids, public access to our fire boats and bush fire trucks, community education and information kits, as well as the opportunity to meet your local bush firefighters, inspect the facility equipment and check out or new boat Bravo," the brigade advised.
The event is part of the NSW Rural Fire Service's Get Ready Weekend.
