Peakhurst Park's new synthetic field was officially opened on Saturday.
The field is the first of its kind in the Georges River area and cost $2 million to build.
Georges River Council contributed $1.4 million to the project, while the NSW Government and St George Football Association each contributed $300,000.
The new amenities block cost a further $1.2m, which was funded through a combination of $900,000 from the state government's Strong Communities Fund and $300,000 from council funding.
Georges River Council mayor Kevin Greene said the new facility at Peakhurst Park was the culmination of collaborative work between community sporting organisations and government working together to achieve a positive outcome for the local sporting community.
"This project has focused on improving recreational sporting facilities within the local area by constructing a FIFA standard synthetic football surface, drainage and pavement, four sports lighting towers and a new amenities building at the park," Mr Greene.
"The field has already been tested out by players with competition matches having been held on the pitch already and it will be accessible to other community groups including local schools.
"The new field makes it possible for year-round activity on a safe and resilient surface."
