UPDATE
The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that the 43-year-old man arrested at Sylvania this morning over alleged historical sexual assaults is Paul Frost, the son of Ian Thorpe's former coach Doug Frost.
Doug Frost was Thorpe's swimming coach between 1995 and 2002. When Thorpe was 20, Tracey Menzies took over his coaching duties.
The alleged assaults on two boys are said to have taken place at the Doug Frost Swim School.
Paul Frost eventually took over the business, which was deregistered in 2012.
It's alleged Paul Frost was the boys' swimming coach at the time of the assaults.
Police believe the boys were aged 11 and 14 at the time of the alleged assaults. The two victims are now in their 30s.
Detective Superintendent Murray Reynolds told the media today the alleged offences took place before and after school during squad training sessions.
"The victims have provided police with detailed statements which have been thoroughly investigated by detectives," Det Supt Reynolds said.
"There was a grooming element to this. These children were young members of a swim squad who were somewhat under the control of this person.
"There are more than two victims in these (alleged) offences."
Paul Frost had a stint in hospitality after leaving the pool and entered series one of MasterChef, police said.
