One of the most popular community events in St George is ready to whirl into action.
The annual Oatley Village Festival is on October 19.
With attractions for more than 15,000 visitors, the event will have more than 180 food, craft and novelty stalls for bargain hunters, plus stage performers, marching bands and amusement rides.
The award winning festival something for everyone. For the young and adventurous, attractions include the Lego challenge, animal farm, face painting, and the ever popular Harley Davidson Bike rides.
The town crier will again be on hand to greet and entertain guests throughout the day. Attractions will also include live entertainment of dance groups and bands, including the popular Hips band. Roving bands include crowd favourites St George Sutherland Scottish Pipe band and the Riverwood Air League Marching Band.
Oatley Flora and Fauna will be launching the 7th edition of the Oatley Calendar 2020. This year the calendar features Then and Now photos of local scenery and land marks.
Oatley Village Festival has raised funds for a wide range of community projects. Community support has enabled Oatley Lions Club to contribute more than $170,000 in the past five years to projects. Funds this year will be donated to local charities, Lions Foundations and Children's Cancer Research.
Last year the festival raised over $40,000 to support community projects.
Off-street parking will be available at the Oatley Campus (entrance via Hurstville Road). Otherwise public transport is the way to go.
For residents, a free festvial courtesy bus will be available for collections and returns. To book your festival bus trip, contact Maree at the Mortdale Community Service, Mortdale: 9579 6322.
Volunteers are always welcome to help on the day. For details email festival@oatleylions.org.au
