Liam and Alannah Cavanough are the closest of baseball siblings.
The pair play in Cronulla Sutherland Junior Baseball competitions for their club East Hills. Even though they are a few years apart and play in different teams they are always together supporting each other, playing catch and having fun. Alannah is her big brother's number one fan.
Last summer season was particularly good for the Cavanough kids, with each receiving awards at their club's annual presentation. Alannah received the Banks Outstanding Sporting Achievement Award, presented to local children who are acknowledged by their sporting club as an outstanding sportsperson.
Liam was part of the Cronulla Sutherland Junior Baseball Association Little League Minors All Stars team that won the Baseball NSW 2019 Age 10-11 State Championships held at North Sydney against teams from across the state.
He also helped his East Hills Little League Minor Division 1 team to the grand final and was named East Hills Little League DiamondBacks Most Valuable Player for 2018-19.
Liam has also been selected for the Baseball Talented Sports Program at Endeavour Sports High when he starts high school next year. He was also chosen for the NSW Junior Baseball team that traveled to Japan in July.
Alannah, a lead off batter and catcher, will return with her East Hills Angels Little League Major T-ball team this season. While Liam is again playing with the East Hills Diamondbacks with the team to move into the highly competitive Little League Majors Division this season.
