The Sutherland Shire White Ribbon Walk on November 22 will still go ahead, in light of the liquidation of White Ribbon Australia.
Anti-Violence movement, Enough is Enough, has been committed to advocating for safer environments for the past 25 years and continues to support prevention activities across the shire.
The White Ribbon Australia organisation, established to prevent violence against women, announced it was shutting down this year.
Enough is Enough states that alongside the planning committee, recognises the global movement of White Ribbon, and will continue to support the global movement, which focuses on the prevention of violence, with the 2019 shire walk.
"The planning committee further recognises the history of this event, as a student lead initiative from Woolooware High School, which has expanded to include many members of our local community services, local businesses, community members, Sutherland Shire Council and the NSW Police," it stated.
"It recognises the importance of this event to the community and its role in bringing together those who have been affected by domestic and family abuse and those who are committed to prevent it."
The walk will start from Don Lucas reserve, Wanda at 10:30am and conclude at 10:45 at Dunningham Park where there will be an official ceremony and free barbecue.
"We continue to encourage schools, local businesses, and community members to participate."
Georges River Council also announced earlier it would continue with its annual walk.
