Telex Hearing Centre is a family owned and run business that has been operating since 1969.
Starting in Hurstville and the Central West of NSW, with visiting sites in Mudgee, Gilgandra, Dubbo, Wellington, Orange and Bathurst, Telex Hearing Centre opened a permanent clinic in Miranda in 2005 and visiting sites around the St George and Sutherland Shire.
There is also a visiting site at Salamander Bay in Port Stephens.
Graham Rathbone has been serving the community as a hearing care professional since 1969.
His son Simon, a clinical audiologist, joined the practice in 2002 and daughter, Marnie - an audiometrist - in October 2004.
The team grew again in 2014 when Hannah Smartt joined as a clinical audiologist.
Simon Rathbone said the Telex Hearing Centre has built its reputation by fitting only the most advanced and technically sophisticated hearing instruments. His father was working for a hearing aid manufacturer when he decided to start his own business.

"As we are a family business, we treat all our patients as if they are family," Mr Rathbone said. "We go that extra step to make sure the patient is looked after to the best of our ability.
"There are many families that we have looked after for multiple generations.
"And we are not linked to any particular hearing aid manufacturer so we can recommend the best hearing aid to suit the patient's needs."
Telex Hearing also offers in-home consultations and can visit local nursing homes if their patients have restricted mobility.
They offer free hearing assessment and hearing aids to eligible veterans and pensioners who meet certain conditions as well as Workers Compensation hearing assessments and stock of range of other hearing devices.
Mr Rathbone said the St George and Sutherland Shire was a great area for families and they were proud to be part of the community.
Telex Hearing Centres are at 2/33 MacMahon Street, Hurstville (phone 9570 6164) and 6/26-28 Gibbs Street, Miranda (phone 9524 5777).
