A man who allegedly damaged more than $500,000 of machinery in a Kingsgrove factory earlier this year has been extradited from Perth and charged.
St George Police were told a 38-year-old man was at his workplace on The Crescent, Kingsgrove, on Thursday, August 15 when he was told his employment had been terminated.
It is alleged the man got into a forklift and used it to smash machinery within the factory, then used a hammer to smash computer hardware.
He left the factory prior to arrival of police. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
Yesterday St George detectives were notified and travelled to Perth where they sought the man's extradition.
He was flown back to NSW and taken to St George Police Area Command where he was charged with malicious damage.
He has been refused bail and will appear in Sutherland Local Court today.
