Eintracht Frankfurt captain David Abraham is facing sanctions by the German football federation DFB after knocking over Freiburg coach Christian Streich in their Bundesliga match.
Abraham was sent off for the incident in stoppage time of Sunday's match in Freiburg which the home side won 1-0.
Freiburg's Vincenzo Grifo was also shown a red card after a video review for his part in an ensuing melee near the touchline.
The DFB's control committee has reported the incident to the disciplinary panel. A red card means an automatic provisional suspension until a ruling on a possible longer match ban.
Frankfurt also had midfielder Gelson Fernandes dismissed coming up to halftime after a second yellow card.
Due to the looming international break, the teams do not play again until November 23.
