October was the hottest on record and our bushfire season is increasingly long and dangerous.
Yet this seems only to have hardened the obstinacy of the climate change deniers in our midst.
While they are prepared to accept a state of emergency based on meteorological forecasts and evident conditions on the ground, they ignore a mass of meteorological evidence on a changing climate and its causes.
Mr Morrison mocked fellow members of parliament with a piece of coal, saying that they had nothing to fear.
Yet clearly all Australians do have something to fear.
As Prime Minister he has become even more authoritarian and has used the Federal Police against whistleblowers and journalists.
Now, he wants to shut down peaceful environmental action by concerned shareholders acting collectively with their proxy votes.
If we can have free enterprise, surely we can also have sane, sustainable enterprise.

East Heathcote threat
Last Tuesday's extreme high fire conditions once again highlights the poor to nearly impossible bridge access at East Heathcote, under an emergency evacuation.
Had the deliberately lit fire in the National Park swung back to East Heathcote, there was no way the residents of John Paul Village and local residents would have all been able to get out in time.
Sutherland Shire Council, State and Federal government's need to make an access out as a number one priority, common sense must prevail when people's lives and safety are at risk.
A lot of residents voted for these parties, so do your jobs and give us another access.
Ross, East Heathcote
