St George Illawarra will head north to the Hunter Valley for their opening pre-season trial match ahead of the 2020 NRL season against Newcastle.
The Dragons will take on the Knights at Maitland's No.1 Sportsground on Saturday, February 22.
The club's Canterbury Cup NSW and Jersey Flegg squads will also be in action against the Knights as part of a triple header.
Cronulla were the visitors to Maitland last season where they thumped the Knights in their trial match - only to be upset in their season opener against Newcastle a fortnight later.
The Dragons will also play South Sydney in their traditional Charity Shield clash at Mudgee the following weekend on February 29.
"Our pre-season trial against the Knights will prove the perfect preparation for the upcoming season, as we look to right the wrongs of the previous year," Dragons chief executive Brian Johnston said.
"We are excited to head out to country NSW for both our pre-season trials in 2020 to lift the spirits of those who have recently faced adverse circumstances, whether through drought or the bushfires."
Maitland Mayor Loretta Baker encouraged supporters to enjoy the event.
Tickets are available from tomorrow.
St George Illawarra start their 2020 NRL campaign when they host Wests Tigers in Wollongong on March 15.
The Dragons make their first appearance at Kogarah in round two when they host Penrith on March 20.
