Carss Park businesses have banded together to hold their first Christmas in the Village.
Fearing they were being overlooked in favour of the bigger shopping centres in the Christmas rush, the shopkeepers decided promote Carss Park Village as a unique shopping destination in its own right.
And they judged the exercise a success with about 1000 people turned up Saturday, December 14.
The idea was initiated by Ria Dounias from The Fashion Baby and Co and Sarah Kalidis from Studio Onethirty.
Being the season of giving, everyone pulled together to raise funds for the Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick with donations totalling over $1700.
Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick cares for more than 69,000 children, not just in the Emergency Department and Hospital Wards, but also through the Outpatients and Outreach Services.
The day was a great success with cookie decorating, face painting, Santa photos, a craft table, colouring competition, a sausage sizzle and much more.
"It was great to see such a large turnout given the short notice," Ria said.
"Next year we all hope to go bigger and better and aim to make Christmas in the Village an annual event."
Businesses and organisations involved included:
