Shire Elite Cheerleading's highest-level team have won a fully-paid bid to represent Australia at the International All Star Federation World Championships in April.
Shire Elite's Royals team took out first place at the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation's national championships in Melbourne late last year.
The AASCF award a handful of partially-paid bids and one fully-paid bid to the World Championships each year.
With more than 12,000 athletes and almost 2000 teams competing, a board of international judges review performances to select a team they believe will best represent Australia on the international stage.
Royals were chosen as the first team from NSW to earn the fully paid bid worth $18,000.
The co-ed team of 16 athletes aged 13-years and older will now compete against the best in the world in Orlando, Florida.
The lead up to the competition will involve months of hard work for the athletes and coaches with a rigorous training regime to create and perfect their routine. This will include choreography work, body conditioning and fitness training and daily team practices.
It has been a long-term goal for the club, established in 2012, to have a team compete at the World Championships.
The club took 134 athletes to Victoria for the AASCF event as they enjoyed one of their most successful national titles to date. Shire Elite saw seven of their teams crowned national champions with five more placing in the top three of their division.
All Star cheerleading has grown rapidly in Australia over the last decade, with the competition sport requiring extreme athleticism and work ethic to comprise a two minute, 30 seconds routine combining stunting, pyramids, tumbling, jumps and a dance break.
