Two ACU Cronulla Sharks Water Polo teams had podium finishes at the 2020 KAP7 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships, held in Brisbane this month.
The Championships had more than 3,500 junior water polo participants competing at the two-week water polo festival.
It is the largest water polo event in the Southern Hemisphere, and it brought together more than 185 teams from across the country who went head to head for national honours.
Cronulla Sharks Water Polo sent six teams to the youth titles - the U14 girls finished with the Bronze medal against 30 other national teams as did the U18 girls who also won the bronze medal against 23 teams.
The U18 boys came 6th ,the U16's finished 10th and 11th and U14 boys 16th.
Cronulla Water polo President Karen Kerr congratulated all of the players for representing their club with pride and thanked the coaches and managers for volunteering their time to get the players prepared.
"Cronulla had close to 100 players, coaches and managers in the Australian Youth Championships. Our teams played to a high standard with some only losing in elimination crossover games,it's good to see them out of challenging for medals," Kerr said.
"Our club suffers from the lack of pools and pool access, we are one of the largest regions in the country with hundreds of kids competing.
"The standard of water polo has improved, with many clubs having paid coaching staff and kids are training in an elite athlete environment and this is improving the quality of players."
