The move follows concerns by residents bushland on the side of Tudar Road and Washington Drive could catch fire and cut off the suburb's escape routes.
One very pro-active resident told the Leader trees were "dangerously overhanging" Tudar Road. He claimed Sutherland Shire Council was ignoring RFS advice about clearing the road shoulders.
Inspector Scott Deller, of Sutherland Shire RFS, said, "Often, after significant fires, we receive an influx of inquiries from residents relating to bush fire hazard mitigation activities, and we currently working through these".
Inspector Deller said a joint inspection would be undertaken with Sutherland Shire Council, most likely in the next two weeks.
"Should works be identified / required to be undertaken, they will be implemented accordingly," he said.
Inspector Deller had earlier advised the resident the RFS had inspected access and egress into Bonnet Bay, via both Tudar Road and Washington Drive.
"During a bush fire, it is likely that both roads could be impacted at the same time, considering fire paths and continuity in vegetation," he wrote.
"Should a fire occur which impacts these two roads, the likely strategy is for Bonnet Bay residents to shelter within the suburb, until the path is clear.
"Where sufficient time allows, residents at risk in Bonnet Bay could be evacuated / relocated prior to the arrival of fire.
"It is noted these roads post fire could be impacted by falling debris such as trees / branches.
"This can be mitigated somewhat, by selective pruning / removal of regrowth adjacent to the road corridor.
"The NSW Rural Fire Service will discuss with Sutherland Shire Council regarding this work, and seek opportunities for funding."
A council spokesman said, as an active member of the Sutherland Shire Bush Fire Management Committee, the council worked closely with partner agencies including RFS and Fire & Rescue NSW to proactively plan and prioritise bushfire risk mitigation activities.
"While bushfire response and evacuation are matters for the RFS, council does assist where it can in minimising the risk of bushfires impacting local residents through ongoing vegetation management, particularly where a specific need is reported," he said.
"Council is aware of concerns that have been raised with the RFS by a Bonnet Bay resident regarding bushfire risk along key road access points, and can confirm that active measures have been taken to mitigate against this risk, including hazard reduction burns and maintenance of asset protection zones bordering the area."
the spokesman said the council also "coordinates the efforts of a large number of Bushcare volunteers, who make a significant contribution to reducing fuel loads in bushland areas".
"Sutherland Shire Council is mindful of the need to reduce the risk of bushfire wherever possible, and works continuously with relevant emergency services to ensure that public safety is held paramount in all vegetation management activities," he said.
