Sutherland Shire Council has rejected the recommendations of staff and approved the removal of another four problem trees.
Since a new policy was introduced early last year allowing councillors to bring contentious applications to the council floor, almost all have resulted in the tree in question getting the chop.
In two of the applications decided at the last meeting, the decision was unanimous, while the Liberals had some Labor support in the others.
The trees to be removed include:
- A Eucalyptus haemastoma (Scribbly Gum) tree in the back yard of a home in Kingswood Road, Engadine.
- An Angophora costata (Smooth Barked Apple) in the front yard of a home in Oyster Bay Road, Oyster Bay.
- A Eucalyptus scoparia located in the road reserve at the end of Eugenia Street, adjacent to Maandowie Bushland Reserve, Loftus.
- An Angophora costata outside a home in Cormorant Street, Grays Point.
The council decided, in future, to advise neighbours of tree removal requests and invite submissions.
