Moran Aged Care Engadine has postponed an event planned for next week in a bid to minimise the risk of coronavirus infection to its residents, staff and the wider community.
General manager Mary Gibbs said a decision was made to postpone a birch naming event planned for next Tuesday at 10am in light of recent outbreaks of coronavirus and influenza across NSW.
"Whilst we are extremely disappointed, we believe that we need to ensure we minimise any risks of exposure," she said.
"We will advise [a new date] once the current health events are de-escalated."
Ms Gibbs said there were presently "no reported cases of coronavirus-COVID-19 across our homes" but the aged care provider was taking steps to minimise the risk of infections.
"Our Moran Homes have implemented precautions to minimise infection risk to our residents, employees and community," she said.
The Leader asked Moran Aged Care if it could detail the steps it had taken to minimise the risk of coronavirus infection but was told it did not want to elaborate.
"Our priority is to protect our residents and staff and to minimise their risk of infection of influenza and the coronavirus," its marketing manager Anne Samuel said.
