Six confirmed cases of coronavirus attended a wedding at a boutique hotel at Stanwell Tops.
NSW's chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant said the wedding was held at Tumbling Waters Retreat on March 6.
"Close contacts are being followed up for further investigation," Dr Kerry Chant during an update on cases on Monday afternoon.
Hotel owner Sonja Keller said in a post on the Leader Facebook page she had "received a call from the NSW Health Department assuring me that the guests that attended the wedding on the 6th March 2020 that tested positive were not contagious during the time they spent at Tumbling Waters Retreat".
"If you could highlight the facts as your article is causing unnecessary grief to all my staff and guests at Tumbling Waters Retreat."
Ms Keller told the Illawarra Mercury she only learnt of the situation through the media conference.
"Nobody at the venue is sick," she said. "The wedding was 10 days ago but nobody from the department has contacted us.
"It would have been nice to hear about it not via the media.
"But these are extenuating circumstances. What can we do about it?"
Ms Keller said the guests only attended the outdoor wedding and did not stay at the retreat.
"None of my staff are sick and the isolation period is nearly over," she said.
"We won't get tested as no one has any symptoms, which is the advice as per the guidelines."
The number of cases of COVID-19 has risen by 37 in the 24 hours to 11 am on Monday, taking the total to 171.
A total of 25,511 people have been tested.
Health Minister Hazzard said the number of confirmed cases was expected to rise substantially in coming weeks and months.
Referring to the new measures announced after the national cabinet meeting on Sunday, Mr Hazzard said, "This is a war against a virus that knows no boundaries and we are trying to put some boundaries around its transmission."

SOCIAL DISTANCING
NSW Health is urging everyone to practice social distancing, as it reduces the potential for transmission.
"Social distancing is an effective measure to reduce the potential for transmission, but it is recognised that it cannot be practiced in all situations," a statement said.
"While practicing social distancing, people can travel to work, including on public transport. For non-essential activities outside the workplace or attendance at schools, universities and childcare - social distancing includes:
- avoiding crowds and mass gatherings where it is difficult to keep the appropriate distance away from others
- avoiding small gatherings in enclosed spaces, for example family celebrations
- attempting to keep a distance of 1.5 metres between themselves and other people where possible, for example when they are out and about in public place.
- avoiding shaking hands, hugging, or kissing other people
- avoiding visiting vulnerable people, such as those in aged care facilities or hospitals, infants, or people with compromised immune systems due to illness or medical treatment."
