Surfing NSW says this disruption to our sport is frustrating but they encourage everyone to continue to enjoy the ocean and the healthy surf lifestyle for good mental and physical health.
Hopefully the Premier gets it and more importantly everyone else gets the message, and stays cool in these changing times.
Weekend crowds have been verging on the ridiculous with an influx of Eastern Suburbs surfers due to their current lockdown and no surfing edict, after 30 thousand people went to Bondi Beach because it was hot and they thought that was OK.
Sutherland Shire Lifeguards have the power to shut down our beaches but have so far held their nerve and only stupid behavior will change it-we are lucky the waves have been small.
It looks like Huey the surf God may also have gone into isolation with the smallest waves for ages on offer this week.
After Mondays small east swell but with perfect all day conditions grooming the sandbanks,Tuesday it got tiny and the immediate forecast doesn't look so good with next Monday expected to be also 1 ft if we are lucky.
Today's 2 ft east swell with predominately light onshore winds is literally as big as its going to get for a week, with another similar day predicted on Saturday so it shouldn't be too hard to stay at home.
The only bonus is these small waves will build some great banks with some nice rips already developing on the beach-the trouble is too many small days will fill the holes in.
As stated last week ,the ISA has decided in agreement with the government of El Salvador to postpone the Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games until further notice, possibly in the latter half of 2020.
This decision comes following the postponement of the Olympic Games until 2021 in light of the growing global COVID-19 pandemic, because this event winner gets a start in next years games.
The ISA will continue to work with its partners in El Salvador and other stakeholders, including the World Surf League to determine new dates and to provide updates, the ISA fully supports the IOC's decision to stage the Tokyo Olympic Games from July 23 to August 8, 2021.
With detailed experience and knowledge about the wave conditions during this time of year, the ISA has complete confidence the Olympic Surfing event can be run efficiently and successfully in 2021-unless a good Japanese wave pool has been opened by then!.
