Nominations are now open for the St George Youth Awards, which form part of Youth Week 2020 to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of young people in the Georges River community.
Georges River Council recognises that in challenging times, it is more important than ever to acknowledge exceptional actions by people in the local community.
In recognition of this, the council is encouraging nominations for the St George Youth Awards.
Run by a steering panel consisting of members of the Georges River Council Youth Advisory Committee and St George Youth Network, the awards are calling for nominations of young people aged 12-18, to be submitted before 5.00pm on 30 April 2020 in one of the following four categories:
Young Entrepreneur
Awarded to a young person who has demonstrated excellent initiative in 'bringing their ideas to life' through starting or operating a sustainable business, program, charity, social enterprise or platform.
Young Volunteer
Awarded to a young person who has shown outstanding dedication and contribution to one or more specific areas leading to the betterment of the Georges River community and provided their time voluntarily during the past year, or given outstanding service to the community over a number of years.
Act of Kindness
Nominate a young person who has been involved in an act of kindness within the community in the past year.
Community Impact
This category will award a young person who has gone above and beyond to have a positive community impact in the wider community. This can be in a paid or unpaid capacity.
The St George Youth Awards winners will be invited to participate in an online awards presentation ceremony later in the year.
They will also receive career and personal development coaching experience and/or training that is relevant to their goals, and gift vouchers and flowers prepared by St George TAFE students.
The St George Youth Awards are a collaborative effort between Shopfront Arts Co- Op, 3Bridges Youth Zone, 2Connect Youth & Community, Project Youth INC, Headspace Hurstville and the Georges River Council Youth Advisory Committee.
