Sutherland Shire has recorded its first coronavirus death.
A woman, 87, who was a passenger on the Ruby Princess cruise ship, died in Sutherland Hospital, Health NSW revealed on Tuesday.
Thirteen deaths across the country are associated with the Ruby Princess.
Only 49 new cases were recorded in NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday, continuing the encouraging downward trend.
The total number of cases in the state has risen to 2686.
Three people have died in the last 24 hours, including the woman in Sutherland Hospital and two men, both aged 90, taking the total number of deaths in the state to 21.
One of the men, a resident of Opal Care at Bankstown, died in Liverpool Hospital.
The other man died at Baptist Care (Dorothy Henderson Lodge) in Macquarie Park, and was the sixth resident infected with COVID-19 to pass away.
There are 229 COVID-19 cases being treated in NSW. This includes 37 cases in Intensive Care Units, and 24 of these require ventilators.
