Manslaughter charges laid following man's death after Hurstville assault

A man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a man who was assaulted in Hurstville last month.

Officers from St George Police Area Command have been investigating after a man was injured in an assault about 3.15am on Saturday, March 21.

The 23-year-old suffered critical head injuries and was taken to St George Hospital where he died on Monday, March 23.

Following inquiries, four men were charged with affray and remain before the courts.

Detectives laid an additional charge of manslaughter, as well as two counts of assault, on a 24-year-old man when he appeared in Sutherland Local Court yesterday.

A co-accused - 22-year-old Hurstville man - has been charged with three counts of assault.

Both were given strict bail conditions to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 9 June 2020.
