When I was at school 30 years ago, we had homerooms, where you would start and finish your day at school.
I suggest that all school kids are locked down in their homeroom all day, five days a week, and other teachers send class plans to the homeroom teacher.
Maybe even the subject teacher can facetime teach a class into one or multiple homerooms at the same time for each and every lesson?
And I would also suggest a Sydney metro lockdown for the weekends as a start.
And if hospitality businesses are buying less food, would that not mean that there would be more food in the market and fresh food prices would go down and NOT up??
Stay safe everyone, and God bless you all. And THANK YOU, The Leader staff! Up Up Cronulla!!!

Munro Park Development Cronulla
I couldn't agree more with Councillor Forshaw's letter (The Leader 1 April 2020) regarding the Munro Park Development. The developer bought (and no doubt paid a price) based on the current LEP and then puts in a DA for a structure of twice the height limit of the same LEP. You have got to be kiddingshame on any Councillor who voted in favour of this proposal in its present form.

Domestic violence support service forced to crowdfunding
Orana, a non-profit organisation, based in Sutherland, provides services, including domestic violence support, to people in Sutherland Shire.
Even though the Prime Minister recently announced a $328 million package to combat domestic violence, the support service provided by Orana is currently under threat - so much so that they have resorted to crowdfunding to raise money to continue. In a week, they have raised over $3000, but it is not enough.
According to Orana, incidents of domestic violence reported in Sutherland Shire over the last two years have increased by 49 per cent. Women wanting to see a domestic violence counsellor face a five-week wait.
The following grants were given out in the PM's electorate recently:
$8000 to a sailing club for barbecue facilities
$110,000 to the church that Mr Morrison attends for "security".
How many women could Orana have helped with this kind of funding?
Maybe even more shameful is that the NSW Attorney General and Member for Cronulla, Mark Speakman, is also the Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence. Yet despite all the money his government has found to build new football stadiums, it seems there is no money to protect the victims of domestic violence.
These local members need to provide funding to frontline services now - before it is too late for them and the women and children they support.
Until that time, hopefully, your generous readers will support Orana's fundraiser so they can keep this service going until more permanent funding is received.

3K Trees 2020 Street Tree Planting - Engadine
OMG whose "non-brilliant" idea was this!!!??? What a waste of time, money and people's time. We have people on the south coast and all around NSW who have lost their homes due to bush fires, and you are going to plant these on our front nature strip...Unbelievable!
Engadine borders the Royal National Park, don't you think there are enough trees???
Don't put them on the nature strips, put them bordering parks so people there can enjoy shade whilst having a picnic or taking children for a run about on the grass. I do not want a tree planted. I've just spent $880 to have trees lopped from inside my property.

Pollution from aircraft
I've noticed we no longer have to wipe down our outdoor furniture daily to remove black soot. In fact, there seems to be a complete absence of this black particulates. It is clearly the result of the major reduction in aircraft movements around Sydney airport. Is there a case to look at cleaner-burning aviation fuel?
