Playgrounds, outdoor gyms and tidal pools throughout the Georges River local government area were reopened today following an easing of COVID-19 restrictions announced by the NSW Government.
Council staff removed barriers, tape and signage from the 118 playgrounds grounds across the LGA.
But while the warning signage was removed the new state of play comes with a caution.
"Council is pleased to see restrictions eased, however it would like to remind community members to stay vigilant, in order to prevent a spike in the rate of COVID-19 transmissions among the community," a council spokesperson said.
"With 118 individual playgrounds throughout the LGA, it is unrealistic for Council staff to sanitise equipment at regular intervals at every park. With this in mind, please remember the following simple advice:
"You still need to practice social distancing (1.5m apart)
"Practice good hygiene and wash your hands before and after visits.
"Personal responsibility is key. Monitor your children as they play. Do you or your child feel unwell? Get tested, then stay home."
Tidal pools are also being opened up to the community, and visitors will be required to adhere to the 10 person limit for outdoor pools and outdoor gatherings.
Signage will be installed to remind people of the limits.
"Council would like to remind residents and visitors that we are all in this together, so we implore you to do your part to help keep the curve flat," the council spokesperson said.
Bayside Council is also re-opening its playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gyms. Libraries and community centres remain closed.
"We ask that you continue to do the right thing by maintaining physical distancing of 1.5m apart. Fines apply for breaches. Breaches should be reported to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
"The timetable for easing further restrictions will be decided by the NSW Government. We will wait for their advice before announcing any changes to our services," a council spokesperson said.
