Saturday's loss against the Warriors has once again sent Dragons fans into a frenzy as they call for the coach's sacking after the club fell to their 17th loss in the last 21 games.
Predictions are, nothing will save him should his team fail to secure any points in the next two games against the Bulldogs and Sharks.
On Saturday both teams were winless and had plenty to play for, but it was the New Zealand Warriors that showed they wanted reward for the sacrifices and hard work they have put in that came away with an 18-0 victory at Central Coast Stadium.
Coach Paul McGregor said his players looked like strangers out there and the intensity they trained at is not transferring onto the field on game day.
"The team needs to find their passion, the Warriors ran harder, tackled harder and found their front," he said in the after-game press conference.
There are calls for team changes, but coach McGregor had already left out Trent Merrin, Tim Lafai and Isacc Luke for this critical game.
One football commentator said they were playing 'dumb football' when at least five times in the match players were stopped on the last tackle handing the ball back to a team that didn't make a mistake for 75 minutes.
It's hard to blame one player but when fullback Matt Dufty dropped a kick and the Warriors scored in just the seventh-minute things started to go south.
It would have been worse without the effort of hooker Cameron McInnes who finished with 71 tackles including a vital try-saver.
Ben Hunt was injured with a corked leg and struggled for much of the game, Hunt has one of the biggest contracts in the NRL and every week now it looks like the blame is going to come his way.
In a magnanimous gesture, the Dragons showed great initiative to line up and thank the Warriors at the game's conclusion for the time kept away from home and their family, which showed they still have heart.
Before the game St George Illawarra Dragons five-eighth Corey Norman said he and his teammates just wanted to win, even if it's not pretty. Well it wasn't pretty and next week there is another game against another team that also wants to win.
