A Penshurst man, who appeared to fall asleep while driving at Mortdale, was allegedly more than seven times over the legal alcohol limit.
Police were contacted by members of the community about 1pm on Wednesday, reporting the man appeared to be asleep at the wheel.
"Officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command located the BMW on Junction Street, Mortdale, and spoke with the 36-year-old male driver," a police statement said.
"The man underwent a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.
"He was arrested and taken to Hurstville Police Station, where he underwent a breath analysis test and returned a reading of 0.351.
"The Penshurst man was charged with drive with high-range PCA, and his licence was suspended.
"He has been granted bail and is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 28 July 2020."
