Ramsgate RSL were delighted to support the very first Red for Research campaign of the St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation.
The St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF) raises money to support life-saving and life-improving research in local hospitals.
Key areas of research include, among others, trauma, critical care, heart disease, lung disease, infection and cancer.
In an effort to raise awareness and funds for the important research work of the SSMRF team who aim to ensure that the best treatments are provided to patients, Ramsgate RSL staff decided to "go red" on Friday, June 19.
Ramsgate RSL's Marketing Coordinator Diana Nasr said that Going Red for Research this year was particularly important with the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The important work of healthcare/medical professionals and their frontline teams should not be underestimated, nor their work unnoticed." Diana said.
"We were proud to have raised $375 for the cause and more importantly raise much needed awareness with our red shirts that couldn't be missed".
Being long term supporters of the important work of the SSMRF team, Ramsgate RSL saw it essential to get involved in their very first Red for Research campaign.
"Ramsgate RSL are proud to continually support the great work of the SSMRF having been a sponsor of their annual Beachside Dash held at local Peter Depena Reserve, Dolls Point," Diana said.
