If so, you can nominate them for the people's choice category of the 2020 NSW Health Excellence in Nursing & Midwifery Awards.
The Healing Heart Award recognises a nurse who has provided exceptional care. Patients, families or carers can nominate someone for the award.
St George Hospital director - nursing and midwifery services Vicki Manning said the Healing Heart Award recognised excellence among NSW Health nurses and midwives and the impact of that exceptional care on NSW residents.
"Our nurses and midwives have worked exceptionally hard, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this is an opportunity to nominate a nurse or midwife who you think is worthy of this award," Ms Manning said.
Sutherland Hospital director - nursing and midwifery services Jan Heiler said the Healing Heart Award was a chance for the people of St George and Sutherland Shire to extend their heartfelt thanks to "the best in our profession".
"Our nurses and midwives make a difference to the health and well-being of our community and the kindness and compassion they show touches lives every day," Ms Heiler said.
The awards hold special significance this year because 2020 is International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
The annual awards ceremony has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic but a virtual event will go ahead in November to honour those nurses who win an award.
NSW Health chief nurse and midwife officer Jacqui Cross said six district-nominated awards plus the Healing Heart Award would be announced at the virtual event.
Local Health Districts and specialty networks can also nominate a nurse or midwife across a number of categories, including Nurse of the Year, Midwife of the Year, Aboriginal Nurse/Midwife of the Year, New to Practice Nurse/Midwife of the Year, Nursing/Midwifery Team of the Year and Judith Meppem Leadership Award.
