Cronulla Sutherland Junior Rugby League has issued a response after the father of a player tested positive to coronavirus over the weekend.
Its chairman Nathan Waugh said a young player had been in close contact with an adult who tested positive. He said reports a player had tested positive were incorrect.
"At this stage all players and participants involved in games that this young player was involved in over the weekend have been asked to self-isolate," he said.
"The adult with the confirmed case is now awaiting his secondary test result and as yet has shown no symptoms.
"We are now awaiting further instructions from NSW Health.
"Until we have further results and confirmation we are asking those that have been advised by their local club COVID-19 safety officer that they may have come in contact with the young player during matches this weekend to self-isolate at home and await further instructions when they come to hand from NSW Health.
"I ask all clubs and members to remain calm and vigilant. We will keep everyone posted as more information is provided from health authorities."

Junior sport in Sutherland Shire has been thrown into chaos after just one round as a result of a coronavirus case which emerged over the weekend.
The De La Salle Caringbah Junior Rugby League Football Club is one of the clubs caught up in the drama, with some members asked to self-quarantine immediately after the family member of a player from an opposing team tested positive to COVID-19 yesterday.
The club sent an urgent email to the entire membership last night after it was notified by NSWRL that one of its teams had played against a club that day whose close contact - believed to be a player's father - had tested positive to coronavirus.
The 14Gold team had played Sutherland Loftus United Junior Rugby League Football Club at De La Salle's home ground, Captain Cook Playing Fields, Woolooware, at 9am Sunday.
"The club is taking advice from NSWRL and will keep all members up to date on this situation as it evolves and further information is received," it said in the email.
"What we know so far is a parent (not in attendance at the game) of one of the Sutherland Loftus players has tested positive today and as a result we are putting in place the following urgent next steps."
It said "all players, officials and spectators (including family members) in the 14Gold team are required to self-isolate until further notice" while "all other players, officials and spectators (including family members) that were in close contact with any 14Gold players at any point [Sunday] must also self-isolate until further notice".
"We are asking you all to take these precautions to ensure the safety of you, your family and all members of the local community," the email said.
A Sutherland Loftus United Junior Rugby League Football Club official who did not want to be named said the club was working closely with NSW Health, the NSWRL and junior rugby league officials.
He said the father who tested positive had been in isolation prior to receiving word he had the virus.
He said four of the club's teams, including its under 14's A side were self-isolating.
However, he said De La Salle had "over-reacted" by telling its players they also needed to isolate.
Meanwhile, Georges River Football Club has written to its members after one of its senior players also tested positive to coronavirus.
The club said the member of the 45C team tested positive on Friday, July 17.
It said the members was no infectious on July 14 and had not had any contact with members since July 12.
He had not visited the clubhouse or the home ground, Oyster Bay Oval, since July 5.
His case was believed to be linked to the Crossroads Hotel cluster and he was "feeling well" and in self-isolation.
