Collaborating with personnel from the COVID-19 Chief Health Officer Support team, a group of Chinese community leaders will deliver their third online forum of COVID-19 information, to be held this Friday.
Called "Keeping our community safe - How to respond to current COVID-19" the online forums were held twice after the outbreak, on Saturday, February 22 and Friday, April 3.
More than 30,000 members of the Chinese community have participated on the second time online live forum in April, which was double the number of people in the first one on February.
Those forums were to provide the latest information and relevant measures to handle the COVID-19 pandemic to people with both Cantonese and Mandarin speaking backgrounds.
On second forum, due to social-distancing policies introduced against COVID-19, all main speakers plus the host and MC, Georges River Councillor Nancy Liu chose to stay home or at their workplace separately but linked via three different social media tele-conferencing platforms, ZOOM, YouTube and WeChat.
Dr Kerry Chant, NSW Chief Health Officer attended the first forum.
Dr Michelle Cretikos, who is the Senior Clinical Advisor to the Chief Health Officer representing NSW Ministry of Health, participated on April forum.
Both of them provided updates of actions against COVID-19 taken to date in NSW.
Councillor Liu said both forums were very successful and received lots of positive feedback from the Chinese community.
For the third forum on Friday, the organising team has started to collaborate with one of the Senior Medical Advisors from COVID-19 Chief Health Officer Support Team representing NSW Ministry of Health.
Councillor Liu said," I am so looking forward to working together with the same team again. They are people from different career backgrounds, generously donating their time and expertise and getting the messages out.
