An Australian Fur seal has made quite an appearance, sunning itself in the middle of a busy Cronulla Beach.
It's not unusual to see a seal in Cronulla waters over winter, although they usually seek a quieter location to regain their strength.
Seal mothers leave their pups very early on in life when they are weaned at three to four weeks old and juveniles can be often found resting on land after storms have exhausted them.
They usually prefer rocky islands, boulder and pebble beaches and rocky ledges for resting and breeding.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service and Orrca (marine mammal rescue, rehabilitation and release service) were quickly on hand to monitor its condition and to keep the curious public away.
A Ranger said it was exhausted and it was spotted in Cronulla Park near Gerrale Street earlier in the morning.
ORRCA operates a 24/7 Rescue Hotline for the public to report any injured or stranded whales, dolphins, seals and dugongs and all members are volunteers.
