For several years, in the late afternoon, Mr Nash, a cab driver for 41 years, has fed a flock of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos on the footpath in Urunga Parade, next to the Westfield complex.
Mr Nash, a Diamond Service Taxi driver, who lives at Sylvania, can't remember exactly when he started caring for the birds, but it was after bushfires in Royal National Park.
Initially, there were just four birds, including a one-legged cockatoo he calls Stumpy.
"Stumpy was burnt in the bushfires," Mr Nash said. "He was one of the original four, and now all his mates come.
"I give them bird seed and put a bit of sunflower seed in. They all look healthy, don't they?
"I come here most afternoons. I leave it till late in the day when this area is pretty quiet.
"It's all over in about 15-20 minutes. I give them something to eat and they go off and find their trees and go to bed."
Mr Nash said the cockatoos were used to the routine and looked out for his cab.
