Verona and visiting Genoa drew 0-0 on Monday in a Serie A match affected by injuries and coronavirus lay-offs.
Genoa's Goran Pandev had a first-half shot saved before his keeper Mattia Perin parried headers by Andrea Favilli and Davide Faraoni.
Verona, who reported two footballers in quarantine and six more injured, moved on to seven points, alongside Inter Milan and Roma.
The Genoese, who had a home game to Torino moved from October 3 to November 4 after their count of infected players reached 17, are now on four points.
They still have seven players in isolation, while two others were injured for the game in Verona.
AC Milan tops the ladder on 12 points after beating Inter 2-1 on Saturday, with Sassuolo trailing on 10 and Atalanta a further point away.
