A man ended up behind bars for the night after a fight outside a Cronulla wedding venue resulted in his arrest on Saturday night.
NSW Police Media said a Woolooware man was arrested just after 10.30pm on Saturday after he allegedly assaulted two police officers outside a wedding reception venue.
Emergency services were called to Mitchell Road at Cronulla following reports of a brawl outside Elouera Surf Life Saving Club.
Officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command attended and spoke with a number of people, before issuing two men, aged 26 and 55, with move-on directions.
Police allege the younger man failed to leave the area before punching a male leading senior constable in the chest.
It is alleged the man then continued to resist police, pushing a male constable onto the road and shoulder-charging the leading senior constable.
Officers used capsicum spray to subdue the man, before arresting him.
He was taken to Sutherland police station and charged with two counts of resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, refuse/fail to comply with direction, assault police officer in execution of duty (actual bodily harm) and assault police officer in execution of duty.
He was refused bail and spent the night behind bars, before fronting Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
A police officer suffered injuries to his wrist and knees and was taken to Sutherland Hospital for treatment before being released.
Investigations are continuing.
