St George District Cricket Club held its annual charity walk last weekend to raise awareness and funds for St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF).
The event, on Sunday, November 22, marked the seventh year the club has chosen the foundation as its charity partner.
Club president and Georges River mayor Kevin Greene and his wife Frances led the walk, which set off from Hurstville Oval just as the St George DCC U/21 team commenced the first game of their T20 double header against Sutherland.
The walkers traversed 20 kilometres through Hurstville, Allawah, Carlton, South Hurstville, Oatley, Mortdale, Peakhurst, Riverwood and Penshurst before returning to Hurstville Oval in time for the first grade game.
Councillor Greene said the club was "proud to be associated with SSMRF".
"While cricket is our focus, we also have a community responsibility and this annual fundraising walk is our way of setting an example," he said.
"A big thank you to all our donors, particularly our sponsors Club Central and Club Rivers, who are always very generous."
