Surf Life Saving Australia has postponed the Nutri-Grain Ironman and Ironwoman Series's opening rounds with one set for the Cronulla beaches due to the present public health alerts, border restrictions, and ongoing uncertainty associated with COVID-19.
The elite series' opening rounds were originally scheduled to occur at Kingscliff in northern NSW on December 18 and 19, 2020 but were postponed due to the outbreak in the Sydney Northern Beaches.
The decision was made to start the Series at Wanda, on January 16 and 17 with the addition of Friday racing- however, the ongoing uncertainty and complexity concerning COVID- led to the decision being taken to postpone the start of the Series to February.
Wanda SLSC also cancelled its annual January Surf Carnival last weekend.
