Bayside Council's Summer Rangers, Police Patrols and Foreshore Ambassadors were out in force at local beaches on the weekend to encourage everyone to act responsibly.
The ambassadors are patrol the foreshore, create public awareness and education and provide public safety announcements as part of Bayside's Summer at the Foreshore program.
They also respond to and manage general customer enquiries and monitor crowd behaviour to ensure visitors to the beach are all COVID-Safe.
The Summer Foreshore Program sees the presence of additional Bayside Council rangers and staff as on identified high risk days such as Public Holidays, School Holidays and weekends where the predicted temperature exceeds 30C.
CCTV cameras are also monitoring social distancing compliance and we will respond to non-compliance as per the relevant escalation stages.
Each year Bayside Council invests over $300,000 in additional foreshore services over summer.
This includes additional Council Rangers and NSW Police patrolling popular areas along the foreshore, as well as extra bins for rubbish.
