Hughes MP Craig Kelly has sparked angry social media debate with Facebook posts claiming social media censorship is a bigger threat to democracy than the Washington DC riots.
Mr Kelly continues to use social media to promote conspiracy theories over who was responsible for the US Capitol riots.
"What's the greatest threat to democracy," Mr Kelly said.
"A small group of protesters overdoing it, and invading a parliament for a short period time, and then leaving, enabling the parliament to recommence shortly after?
"Or a social media giant censoring and shutting down the account of a democratically elected leader."
Cook MP and Prime Minister Scott Morrison is being urged to discipline Mr Kelly. Mr Kelly is also using social media to promote anti-mask propaganda and using hair lice medication to treat COVID-19.
Labor Leader Anthony Albanese said the Prime Minister should call Mr Kelly to account over his social media posts that promote "crackpot" conspiracy theories and COVID-19 cures.
"Scott Morrison intervened to protect Craig Kelly's preselection and keep him in the Parliament," Mr Albanese said.
"It is reprehensible for any member of the Australian Parliament to defend the attempted insurrection against democracy that we saw in the United States."
Opposition health spokesman Chris Bowen labelled Mr Kelly a menace, and said Prime Minister Scott Morrison had failed to bring him into line
