A man has been charged after a woman died when she was allegedly hit by a 4WD at Hurstville yesterday.
Just before 10.30am on Thursday January 14, emergency services were called to Rose Street after reports a woman had been hit by a 4WD.
Officers attached to St George Police Area Command attended and commenced first aid, but the 68-year-old woman, from Padstow, died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old man, wasn't injured.
He was taken to St George Hospital for mandatory testing, before being taken to Kogarah Police Station, where he was arrested.
Officers from St George Police Area Command established a crime scene and the Crash Investigation Unit launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, police last night charged the man with dangerous driving occasioning death - drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), and not reverse vehicle safely.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court on February 2.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
