He has been a familiar face at Sutherland Hospital's COVID-19 testing clinic since the pandemic began, and his kindness has not gone unnoticed by the public - or staff.
The COVID-19 clinic's security guard Reynaldo Aragon received the Spirit of Sutherland Hospital Award last month during its reward and recognition award presentation.
It was not the first time Mr Aragon had drawn praise for his work, after someone wrote a post about him on the 'Everything Sutherland Shire' Facebook page.
The post read: "The security guard at the door of Sutherland Hospital COVID testing is such a lovely gentleman and so kind. He really needs a shout out. Anyone feel the same?".
Numerous community members made glowing comments, which caught the attention of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD), which operates Sutherland Hospital.
A SESLHD spokeswoman said Mr Aragon had received some wonderful praise from community members "who had experienced wonderful interactions" with him.
"He is getting quite a lovely reputation for being friendly and relaxing people as they enter the clinic, particularly children," she said.
Sutherland Hospital's director of corporate services Katerina Volas said Mr Aragon deserved the praise he received.
"Rey has wonderful people skills and is a genuinely happy person who has a lovely affect on everyone he comes into contact with. We are so lucky to have him at Sutherland Hospital," she said.
Mr Aragon said he was part of an "incredibly caring" team.
"Each and every one of us in the security team at the hospital does a great job as we all have compassion," he said.
"I like to make sure everyone is comfortable and I like to make people smile.
"I am especially nice to the children when they come in because often they are scared, so I muck around with them to try to get them to relax."
