Two men were due to face court today after they were charged over an alleged carjacking and robbery in Penshurst last week.
A man, 47, was sitting in his Toyota Hino on Cambridge Street, Penshurst, at about 11pm on Saturday, February 20, when he was allegedly approached by two men, aged 30 and 45, one of whom was known to him.
Police allege one of the men, 30, assaulted the driver through the open door, punching him to the head.
The driver sustained a laceration to his face.
The man then allegedly stole the vehicle before the driver left the scene and notified police.
Officers from St George Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
On Monday, February 22, police located the Toyota Hino in Sproule Street, Lakemba.
Following inquiries, police executed two search warrants at separate homes on Sproule Street and arrested the two men. Both were taken to Campsie police station.
The younger man was charged with robbery in company, possess prohibited drug and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period - second offence.
The older man was charged with robbery in company.
Both were refused bail to appear in Bankstown Local Court today.
