Sutherland Shire Police Local Area Command has welcomed five new officers to the region.
The probationary constables, including three women and two men, range in age from 22 to 38.
They started work in the command on Monday, after being welcomed by Sutherland Shire Police Local Area Commander, Superintendent Jason Box.
Superintendent Box said some of the new recruits had relocated from country areas and all had come from diverse backgrounds.
He said all were all looking forward to facing the challenges that will come with their new roles, and he wished them a rewarding and safe career.
They join six probationary constables who started at the command in December and seven who began work in October.
Probationary constables must complete eight months of foundational training prior to commencing work in the community.
The NSW government plans to boost police numbers by 1500 over the next four years.
