The Salvation Army has released $3 million from its Red Shield Appeal to help those affected by the NSW floods.
And it is calling on the Australian public to help the effort, setting a fundraising target of $10 million.
They join St Vincent de Paul Society NSW and Australian Red Cross, who have also launched flood appeals this week.
Major supermarkets Coles and Woolworths have also pledged support.
Coles pledged up to $1 million to an appeal for flood-affected communities in NSW and Queensland to enable not-for-profit organisation, GIVIT, to provide emergency and household items to local residents.
Donations can be made at any Coles supermarket, Coles liquor store and Coles Express store.
Coles kick-started the appeal with a $100,000 cash donation and will match customer donations dollar-for-dollar up to $900,000.
Woolworths has also made a $100,000 donation to its Support Through Australian Natural Disasters fundraising for (S.T.A.N.D) partner, The Salvation Army.
NSW shoppers can also round-up their purchases on transactions over $30 this week to support the cause until Sunday.
Donations made to the Red Shield Appeal will support The Salvos' long-term commitment helping those devastated by the floods to recover and rebuild in the months and years to come.
"The Salvos need the support of the Australian public so we can continue to help those most in need as a result of these floods," said its national public relations secretary Major Bruce Harmer.
The Salvation Army Emergency Services (SAES) has already served more than 3500 meals to the disaster response teams and those who have been directly affected by the floods.
SAES food and pastoral support teams have been set up at seven evacuation centres throughout NSW: Macksville, Bulahdelah, Laurieton, Kempsey, Taree, Richmond and North Richmond.
The Salvation Army recovery teams, which have been on the ground supporting those impacted by the devastating Black Summer bushfires in 2019-20, will now be mobilised for the long-term flood recovery effort.
The Salvos long-term recovery support will begin next week.
"We will be there for the long-haul, supporting the recovery efforts of these devastating floods in the coming month or years, but we cannot do this without the generous support of the Aussie people ... so please give generously," Major Harmer said.
