Miranda electorate has secured $50,000 in funding for nine organisations through the NSW Government's 2021 Local Sport Grants Program.
State Miranda MP Eleni Petinos said the grants would provide essential funds to assist local sporting organisations in increasing participation, purchase equipment and improving facilities.
"Sport is an important part of our local lifestyle and these grants provide vital funds to our clubs and contribute to improved social, health and cultural outcomes for our community," she said.
The successful projects are; $15,000 for a lighting upgrade at Taren Point Bowling and Recreation Club, $9,000 for new seating stands at Gwawley Bay Football Club, $5,490 for a scoreboard at Bellingara Netball Stadium and uniforms for Sutherland Shire Netball Association, $4,551 for equipment and coach accreditation for Joeys Netball Club, $4,402 for women's equipment for Southern Districts Rugby Club, $3,730 for equipment for Sylvania Heights Community and Youth Gymnastics Club, $3,600 for equipment for Port Hacking Little Athletics Centre, $2,227 for metal plinths for Gymea Miranda Bowling and Sports Club, $2,000 for accreditation courses for Taren Point Titans Rugby League.
Minister for Sport Geoff Lee said the grants provide a welcome lift to communities as NSW emerges from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"These grants are important for the local sporting community, in particular the army of volunteers who donate their time week in, week out to ensure local sport and recreation activities are available."
