A man has been charged and a strike force formed to investigate a brawl involving spectators, which took place at the end of a soccer match at Rockdale.
Police were told the men were armed with metal star pickets, bricks, flares and plastic crates.
Police were called to the West Botany Street sports field just after 5pm on Sunday at the conclusion of a National Premier League match between Rockdale Ilinden and Sydney United 58, which ended in a nil all draw.
"When officers from St George Police Area Command and the Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS), arrived, the crowd started to disperse," a police statement said.
"Three men were taken to St George Hospital suffering minor injuries. Police have been told the men were armed with metal star pickets, bricks, flares and plastic crates.
"Strike Force Azure has been formed to investigate the incident and, following inquiries, a 23-year-old man has now been charged with being armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and riot.
"The man, from Granville, has been granted conditional bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 18 May 2021. His bail conditions include not to attend any Premier League games.
"As inquiries continue police have released descriptions of two men police believe can assist with inquiries.

"The first man described as having a medium build, wearing a black jacket, grey cap and dark sunglasses. The second man is described as of a medium build and wearing a black jumper. Images of the men have been posted to the NSW Police social media pages.

Riot squad police were called to a brawl, which broke out at the end of a soccer match at Rockdale on Sunday.
Police were told spectators, armed with weapons, participated in the brawl, which occurred about 5pm on a sports field in West Botany Street.
"Officers from St George Police Area Command attended, along with the Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS), and the crowd started to disperse," a police statement said.
"Two men were found suffering lacerations to their limbs. They were taken to St George Hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries."
Police want to speak to a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance and stocky build and last seen wearing a black jumper, black shorts, black bucket hat and dark sunglasses.
