TOFS (Touring Old Farts) is a name that tends to stick in your head.
Since 2007, the incorporated, not-for-profit organisation has been offering retired or semi-retired men regular opportunities to get out for the day and explore places of interest throughout Sydney and close regional areas.
An information session will be held at Club on East, in East Parade, Sutherland at 10.30am on Monday May 3.
Terry O'Hara, of Kareela, the immediate past president of TOFS, is encouraging men to attend.
Mr O'Hara said he wasn't sure what to expect when he was invited to his first outing, but was immediately put at ease.
"I was made to feel very welcome by a group of guys I had never met before," he said. "They were people from all walks of life and a range of job backgrounds."
Wherever they go, the TOFS name creates interest and the occasional crack it means Too Old For Sex.
Activities take the form of day trips on public transport, making use of the $2.50 Senior / Pensioners card.
The website states: "It doesn't matter where you live in the greater Sydney metropolitan area, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Illawarra or Forster / Taree area, you can be involved and are invited to attend any outing as a visitor
"TOFS is non-party political, non-sectarian and non-profit making.
"The purpose of TOFS is to promote and advance health, wellbeing, intellectual and cultural interests among adult men who have retired or are semi-retired.
"TOFS arranges and holds regular activities to provide opportunities for fellowship, education, the development of acquaintance and social interaction."
